Writing: Expectation vs. Reality

I’ve been writing for a while now and the headline above resonates with me for a variety of reasons. My reality always beats my expectations.

When I sit down to type I expect to have a flawless night of writing.

The reality is there are always going to be distractions and boy do I get distracted.

Whether it be IG, Twitter or just random Googling. I’ve been learning how to unplug from everything except writing.

I’m so used to my writing space being chaotic. Almost like controlled chaos. Lately, I have been doing a better job by listening to music for white noise and letting the words flow.

I’m a firm believer of the better an environment the better the writing. In the coming weeks I will be proving this theory to be true as I run through another editing cycle for my latest novel, A Recipe for Survival.

No more distractions! (Or at the least less of them. Nobody’s perfect.)
